Experience Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Tasman, Fox and Franz Glaciers from a Ski Plane
This flight leaves from the Mt Cook Airport, a five-minute drive from the Mt Cook village. If you are coming up to Mt Cook and are enjoying all that the surrounding area has to offer, then this flight is for you.
This is a 35-minute flight that encompasses all the main geographic features in the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park by circumnavigating Aoraki/Mt Cook, our highest peak at 12,349 feet. Mt Cook is the centre of the national park and this circular flight takes in all the iconic geographic features that this region of NZ has to offer.
You will see the longest glacier in NZ, the Tasman Glacier, on the eastern side of the main divide. Crossing the main divide to the West Coast reveals great views of the Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. Continuing around Mt Cook onto the eastern side of the Southern Alps into the Hooker Valley we will return back into the Tasman Valley to land back where we started.
