Experience unimpaired views from your window seat as you fly through a landscape of unbelievable grandeur and beauty, above mountains and glaciers onboard your fixed-wing aircraft.
Fly:
Your knowledgeable, highly skilled local pilot will provide interesting and informative commentary during this 45-minute flight over to Milford Sound.
Departing from Queenstown Airport our preferred flight path heads north over the Coronet Peak ski-field, historic Skippers Canyon and the Shotover River – the second richest gold-bearing river in the world.
Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and glacier-fed braided rivers as you fly along the Dart River Valley into the World Heritage Area of Mt. Aspiring National Park. With endless snow-covered mountains, the Olivine Ice Plateau, Mt. Tutoko and the Tutoko Glacier just some of the incredible highlights along the way, it really is an unforgettable experience.
The breath-taking scenery continues into Fiordland National Park, out over the rugged West Coast and the Tasman Sea before a quick U-turn descending into Milford Sound itself. Flying down the middle of the Fiord, with the dramatic sheer mountains either side, aerial views of the cascading Stirling Falls as you come into land at one can only be described as one of the worlds most sunning landing strips.
Explore:
You will have the opportunity to explore the shores for approximately 2 hours, with our two short walks, taking you to unmissable vantage points and through awesome wilderness
Wander through beech forest and alongside the sandy shores of majestic Milford Sound on the boardwalks of the Foreshore Loop Track for some of the best views of iconic Mitre Peak, standing a proud 1,692 metres above sea level. Learn more about the area through the interpretive visitor panels and take a moment to enjoy the best seat in the house, the Milford Sound swing – you may have seen the gorgeous photos on your Instagram feed.
Get an awesome perspective of Milford Sound framed by native bush when you climb the stairs of the Lookout Track, the short walk winds its way up to a spectacular viewpoint.
Finish off with a bite to eat from Discover Milford Café or bring your own picnic and enjoy lunch with a view on the benches overlooking the Sound and Mitre Peak.
Fly:
Meet your pilot back at the airstrip for another epic 45 minute return scenic flight to Queenstown. You will take a different route on the way back to showcase even more stunning scenery as you watch the landscape change crossing the main divide.
We’re all here for the view and every seat on every plane is a window seat.
