Franz Josef Glacier

Franz Josef Glacier

Franz Josef Glacier is one of the steepest glaciers in New Zealand, descending from its origins high in the Southern Alps deep into the lush native rainforest of Westland’s National Park.

At 12km long this temperate maritime glacier on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, also moves faster than your average glacier at around 50cm per day.

Take a Scenic Flight by Helicopter or Aeroplane to view the incredible features of this constantly changing and evolving glacier. Take a Twin Glacier flight and include the nearby Fox Glacier into you tour. Or choose the Grand Tour which includes views of Aroaki / Mt Cook, Mt Tasman and the Tasman Glacier.
